Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls! I am excited to announce my first ever cocktail recipe on the blog. Allow me to introduce you to this decadent and enticing Kombucha Mezcal Mule!
Yes, it is a “Mezcal Mule” not a “Moscow Mule” meaning that in place of vodka, it has the ever so smokey mouthwatering mezcal. Mezcal is absolutely an acquired taste. I have a few friends who absolutely hate it. But with myself being an absolute lover of anything smoked (cheese, fish, alcohol…you name it), I love love love me some mezcal.
Anyways, there is good news for my fellow health freaks! I read on Well + Good that mezcal is one of the cleanest alcohols and it contains only pure ingredients from the agave plant, making it a healthier alternative to tequila. Whereas up to “49% of tequila bottles can be comprised of fillers and unnecessary additives”. So if you’re wondering if this drink is a “healthier” cocktail option, you’re in the clear.
The other ingredient that makes this cocktail a cleaner healthier alternative to the regular Moscow Mule is the Ginger Kombucha. I swapped Ginger Kombucha for the typical Ginger Beer. Kombucha is a fizzy fermented tea that contains a lot of natural probiotics. Kombucha coupled with ginger makes it an excellent drink for your tummy. I like to use GTs Organic Raw Kombucha Gingerade. You can find this kombucha everywhere now. It used to only be sold in Whole Foods and health food stores but now I am seeing it pop up almost everywhere. You can also buy a whole case on Amazon here. They have many flavors but the gingerade flavor is the best as it tastes amazing and goes great with mezcal and lime juice!
This cocktail is super simple to make so don’t worry if you’re not a certified bartender. I’m definitely not. But you will still impress your health conscious friends at your next dinner party with the clean ingredients and the enticing flavors. And it’s a perfect refreshing drink for the hot summer nights we have ahead. So check out the recipe below and enjoy!
