Everyone is obsessed with salmon and tuna and understandably so. Salmon and tuna are both rich in omega 3 fatty acids and protein. Not to mention they are incredibly delicious eaten in any of the numerous ways they can be prepared. With good reason, salmon and tuna tend to be the stars of the healthy fish world. But I’m here to sell you on cod and why it is the best fish. *Enter this Maple Miso Butter Cod with Green Beans*
Benefits of Cod
According to an article on Healthline:
- High in protein, but low in calories, fat, and carbs- making it a great option for lean protein
- Good source of B vitamins– particularly B12, B6, and niacin
- Rich in phosphorous and selenium
In addition to cod being a lean and healthy protein, it’s also the perfect cooking fish. Cod has a very mild flavor (unlike salmon or other fishier fish) and soaks up all the flavor of your sauce. Pretty sure my boyfriend who is a fish-hater likes cod because the fish flavor is so subtle. Another reason cod is a good cooking fish is because its meat holds up very well to cooking, as in it is flaky but doesn’t fall apart completely when you’re done cooking it. Now that I’ve sold you on why cod is a delicious fish, let’s get to this Maple Miso Butter dish….
Maple Miso Butter…yum!
I was already obsessed with miso butter and ate it on everything from eggs to rice to pasta, like this Mushroom Miso Butter Noodles dish. But adding maple syrup to the butter takes it to a whole other level of flavor. This Maple Miso Butter is sweet and salty and taste soooo good mixed in with the cod and green beans.
This dish is a take on Nobu’s famous miso-marinated cod but takes way less time and uses no refined sugar. It’s ready in 30 minutes and will have your tastebuds screaming for more. I highly suggest making extra maple miso butter to drizzle on rice or pasta because why not.
