Cauliflower seems to be the new “it” vegetable. You can make it into a mash as a substitute for mashed potatoes, you can make it into a sauce as an alternative to alfredo, or like in this recipe, you can treat it as a chicken substitute. Cauliflower is just SO good. It seems to be creeping into a lot of my meals recently, like this one.I was inspired by a recipe for baked honey garlic chicken from Damn Delicious. I got inspired to try this recipe for baked honey garlic cauliflower! And voila, it turned out great. The recipe reminds me of General Gau’s chicken, except slightly different. I made it for myself and my mom and my mom thought it tasted really good. We finished the whole batch of it in one sitting…so clearly it was that good.
To coat this cauliflower you could use regular breadcrumbs or if you want to go gluten-free, you could use gluten-free breadcrumbs or almond meal/flour. Since last updating this post, I have also seen these chickpea breadcrumbs, which I freaking love! These chickpea breadcrumbs can be substituted in place of normal breadcrumbs and are gluten-free, grain-free, and add some extra protein to your dish! Anyhow, this would be a great recipe for the up and coming New Year’s Eve. Many people eat Chinese food to bring in the New Year. If you’re looking to start your New Years resolution early and eat healthier Chinese food over the holiday, I recommend trying out this recipe. It goes really well with rice, quinoa, or sauteed vegetables. And you can get the delicious taste of Chinese food without the heaviness and greasy feeling. This recipe is healthier than typical Chinese food and can be adapted to be gluten-free. Here is the recipe:
Baked Honey Garlic Cauliflower

- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 1/3 cup of water
- Stir mixture into saucepan and cook until mixture begins to thicken, about 1-2 minutes

Hi Corey. Sorry for the delay in my response. With the upcoming holidays, it has been so so busy! I haven’t actually made this dish in advance and am not completely sure of how it would be if you made it ahead of time. I have eaten it as leftovers within a few days of making it and when it is reheated, it is still tasty! If you did make it ahead of time, please let me know how it turned out! Happy Holidays!
